蔡國強

Cai Guo-Qiang was born in Quanzhou, Fujian Province in 1957 and currently lives and works in New York and Beijing. He graduated from the Department of Stage Art at the Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1985 and lived in Japan from 1986 to 1995.

In the mid-1980s, he began to experiment with gunpowder to create works that have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in art galleries around the world.

He had participated in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Shanghai APEC Conference, the Beijing Olympic Games, the National Day of the People's Republic of China in 2009, and the fireworks design of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China in 2011.

In 1999, he won the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Biennale and the Fukuoka Asian Culture Award in 2009.

1957年生於福建泉州,目前在美國紐約和北京居住和工作。

1985年畢業於上海戲劇學院舞台美術系,1986年至1995年旅居日本。

八○年代中期開始使用火藥創作作品,經常在世界各地許多美術館舉辦個展和參加羣展。

曾任上海APEC會議、北京奧林匹克運動會開閉幕式、2009年中華人民共和國國慶和2011年中華民國建國百年慶典焰火總設計。

1999年獲威尼斯雙年展金獅獎、2009年獲福岡亞洲文化獎。
