Liang Shaoji was born in Shanghai in 1945 and was originally from Zhongshan, Guangdong.

In his early years, he engaged in arts and crafts design until he began to explore fiber art in the mid-1970s. In the 1980s, he studied at the Wan Man Wall Studio in Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, focusing on soft sculpture.

In 1984, he participated in the first Chinese wall art exhibition in Beijing. In 1986, he created the modern art wall hanging installation "Sun Tzu's Art of War" and exhibited in the 13th International Modern Art Wall Biennale in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In 1988, he created the wall-mounted installation "Cloud", won the China Contemporary Art Award (CCAA) in 2002, and won the Prince Claus Award in the Netherlands in 2009.

1945年生於上海,原籍廣東中山。

早年從事工藝美術設計,七○年代中期開始探索纖維藝術,八○年代在浙江美術學院萬曼壁掛工作室學習,專注於軟雕塑。

1984年參加北京的中國首屆壁掛藝術展,1986年創作了現代藝術壁掛《孫子兵法》、參展瑞士洛桑的第十三屆國際現代藝術壁掛雙年展。

1988年創作壁掛《雲》,2002年獲中國當代藝術獎(CCAA),2009年獲荷蘭的克勞斯親王獎。
