Lin Tianmiao was born in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province in 1961, she graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Capital Normal University in 1984 and New York Artists Union College in 1989 and currently lives and works in Beijing.
She works mainly in installation works. To create her 1998 work "Braiding", she printed photographic images of herself onto white silk ropes measuring nearly four meters. In 1995, she participated in the China Women's Invitational Exhibition in Beijing. In 2000, she participated in the second Fukuoka Triennial and the Gwangju Biennale in 2004 and a number of other international exhibitions. In 2006 she won the "Martell Artist of the Year Award".
1961年生於山西省太原市,1984年畢業於首都師範大學美術系,
1989年畢業於紐約藝術家聯盟學院,現居住和工作於北京。
創作以裝置作品為主,在1998年作品《辮》中,她運用了白色線繩與長近四公尺的藝術家布面影像。
1995年參加北京的中國婦女邀請展,2000年參加了第二屆福岡三年展和
2004年的光州雙年展等國際展覽,2006年獲得「馬爹利年度最佳藝術家獎」。
