Lin Yilin was born in Guangzhou in 1964, he graduated from the Sculpture Department at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1987. He currently lives and works in New York and Guangzhou. In 1991, he was a founding member of the contemporary artist collective "Big Tail Elephant" in Guangzhou. He works mainly in performance art.

In 2000, he won the China Contemporary Art Award and his works were exhibited in the PSI Contemporary Art Center in New York and the Gwangju Biennale.

1964年生於廣州,1987年畢業於廣州美術學院雕塑系,現生活和工作於紐約和廣州。

1991年在廣州參與創建了當代藝術小組「大尾象」,作品以行為藝術為主。

2000年獲得中國當代藝術獎,作品曾在紐約PSI當代藝術中心、光州雙年展等世界各地展出。
