Shen Yuan was born in Xianyou County, Fujian Province in 1959, and was among the first graduate of the Chinese Painting Department of the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts after the Cultural Revolution.
In 1989, she participated in the "Chinese Avant-garde Art Exhibition" of the National Art Museum of China. She then moved to Paris with her husband Huang Yong Ping.
Her works have participated in international contemporary art exhibitions such as the Liverpool Biennale, the Sao Paulo Biennale and the Gwangju Biennale.
She has also held solo exhibitions in many cities including Paris, Kyushu, Bern, London and Vancouver.
1959年出生於福建仙遊縣,文化大革命後浙江美術學院國畫系第一屆畢業生。
1989年參加中國美術館的「中國前衛藝術展」;隨後同丈夫黃永砯移居巴黎。
作品參加過利物浦雙年展、聖保羅雙年展和光州雙年展等國際當代藝術展覽。
先後在巴黎、九州、伯恩、倫敦、溫哥華等許多城市舉辦個展。
