Xu Tan
徐坦

Xu Tan was born in Wuhan in 1957, he graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and now lives in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

One of the members of the Guangzhou Experimental Artist Collective "Big Tail Elephant", whose works cover the fields of text, pictures, videos, performance, installation, and internet art.

He has also participated in the 50th and 53rd Venice Biennales, the 2nd Berlin Biennale, and the 4th Gwangju Biennale.

In 2002, he was awarded the Artists Fund of the Asian Cultural Association of New York and in 2004 he was awarded the National Academic Exchange Fund of Germany.

1957年生於武漢,畢業於廣州美術學院,現居住於廣州和深圳。

廣州實驗藝術小組「大尾象」的成員之一,作品涉及文字、圖片、影像、行為、裝置、網路等媒介領域。

曾參加第五十屆及第五十三屆威尼斯雙年展、第二屆柏林雙年展、第四屆光州雙年展。

2002年獲紐約亞洲文化協會藝術家基金、2004年獲德國國家學術交流基金。
