Yu Hong was born in Beijing in 1966, she joined the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1980 and studied at the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
She began to teach at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1988. She graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1995 and continued to teach at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
The main works created since the 1990s include "Witness to Growth", which is based on personal experience, and the "She" series, which focuses on women. The works have participated in a number important international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale.
1966年生於北京,1980年進入中央美院附中,後就讀中央美術學院油畫系。
1988年開始任教於中央美術學院,1995年畢業於中央美術學院油畫系碩士研究生班,並繼續任教於中央美院油畫系至今。
九○年代以來創作的主要作品有挖掘個人經驗的《目擊成長》,以及關注女性的「她」系列等,作品多次參加威尼斯雙年展等國際重要展覽。
